Health expert Jorge Ángel warns: "To avoid hearing damage from using hearing aids, you should apply the 60-point rule."

Headphones have become an essential accessory, as many people use them on public transport, at work, while exercising, or simply to enjoy music, podcasts, or TV shows without disturbing others.
Although this device is gaining popularity every day, especially among young people, who use it for several hours at a time, it has raised concerns among specialists because prolonged exposure to high volumes can affect hearing.
Through his social media, nurse Jorge Ángel warned against the deliberate use of hearing aids and gave some advice on how to use them so that your ears are not affected.
Because it is such a widespread and seemingly harmless habit, many people are unaware of the risks involved when they use it repeatedly and at high noise levels.

“To avoid hearing problems in the future, it is recommended that the sound level not exceed 85 decibels ,” Ángel commented.
To prevent hearing damage from the high volume of these devices, people should set their cell phone sound levels to no more than 60 percent and avoid excessive use to prevent irreparable damage in the future.
“ You can follow the 60 rule, which is to not exceed 60 percent of the volume and also not use them for more than 60 minutes a day,” Angel said.
According to the expert, following these tips is of utmost importance so that your hearing isn't affected over time.

Something else to consider is the model of hearing aids used, since if they are not the right ones, the ears can begin to show alterations.
"As for the model, external headphones are more recommended than in-ear headphones, and of course, they must be of good quality, not like the typical ones they give away. Another trick is to go to your phone's settings and set it to no more than 60 percent ," he concluded.
According to Ángel, these tips not only help reduce external noise, but also allow you to enjoy sound at a lower volume without compromising your hearing health.
